Overview

Small but varied, Arusha National Park rises from the Momella Lakes to the summit of Mount Meru. It is one of the few parks where you can walk and canoe, and a perfect first or last day of a trip.

Arusha National Park is small but varied: the forested Ngurdoto Crater, the alkaline Momella Lakes and the slopes of Mount Meru, Tanzania’s second-highest mountain. On a clear day Kilimanjaro is visible to the east.

It is one of the few parks where you can walk with an armed ranger and canoe on the Small Momella Lake, and it is the start of the Mount Meru climb. Black-and-white colobus monkeys are easy to see in the forest.
